WELCOME to my fifth edition of Music Notes, which essentially is my Music Blog. Music Notes will provide more detailed information on my music, releases, updates or various musical articles.
So without further ado, enjoy this edition of Music Notes.
Last time we talked about what actually is an Indie Artist. (Hmm...I should give a pop quiz, but maybe another time) And this week, we will discuss some ways you can support your favorite Indie Artist. And some ways are actually free to do!
So as a fan - what are some ways you can support Indie Artists? There are many ways you can do this, but here are 4 quick ways and will share the remaining 3 + A Bonus One in another post......
Buy a CD
Yes, this is pretty obvious, but wanted to mention it as this has been one of the tops ways indie artist support themselves. However, due to the ever changing music industry, many indie artists are no longer having CD's made due to the costs involved and quick frankly - CD players are growing extinct. In fact most cars that you purchase today no longer have CD players. Everything is Bluetooth....no more CD player. It reminded me of the times when they actually stopped putting tape players in cars. If an Indie Artist has invested in some CD's - this is one quick way a fan to give back to the artist.
Purchase a Download
This is yet another obvious one, but again - I wanted to mention it since most musical artists are going this route. It's become easier and easier (and most cost effective) to release music as a download than the traditional CD. Most downloads are really inexpensive ranging from 99 cents - $2. You can also gift a friend a download too (many artist do have download cards available). Online music hubs also allow people to do this too.
Writing a Review
Sometimes writing a review is even more effective than purchasing music. Why? Because people read reviews. Just think about when you were looking to purchase an item. What do you do? You read the reviews to see how this item is working for others.
When it comes to music - this is a very effective way to "help market" your Indie Artist to others who may be looking to purchase their music and reading your review actually may be the one thing that gives the Indie Artist yet another fan for life.
Whether you have downloaded music from Amazon, iTunes, etc...simply leave a review for the artist. It's quick and easy and doesn't cost you a dime. :)
Share Music on Social Music
This is yet another effective tool with helping out your favorite Indie Artist. Why Social Media? It's a very powerful tool to sharing something with many. As a blogger, I have tools to track who clicks and reads my blog posts. Literally within 5 mins of posting my blog post on social media, I check stats and its between 50-100 people in just 5 mins. And when people share the post - it multiplies continuously. The same concept happens for music. Most online music hubs have a link that you can click to share the music on Facebook, Twitter, etc.
Newsletters have links where you can share the email (scroll all the way up to the top or bottom the email and you will see where you can easily share any emails you feel is worth sharing).
Additionally, most Indie Artist have a Music Fan Page where you can easily go and share music from there. This is another way that you can help support your artist and again - it doesn't cost you anything. Just a simple a share - can go along way for the artist.
Next time, we will cover the remaining 3 . Stay Tuned!
As always, thank you so much for your love and support of my music!!!!!

@Alex Bender - You are welcome and thanks for reading. Yes, definitely quite alarming how CD's are becoming extinct since everything is basically digital now. And yes, most definitely a review or sharing music on social is something so easily done, but can definitely benefit the artist. :)
@Amy Starr Allen - Thank you Amy. Agreed, it helps to be reminded even of some of the most obvious things. Something as simple as a review or sharing music can really help and assist Indie Artists. Yes, definitely surreal that CD's are becoming extinct! :)
Its amazing how quickly CD's have become extinct! I THANK I have a CD player in my work truck, but I don't have any CD's to put into it!
I agree that a good honest review / comment is absolute money in the bank. And its actually hard to put a price on when someone shares the music to their following.
I must admit I'm pretty much a Spotify guy, but when I find something new I'll grab a link and share it on my FB.
Thanks for the post LT
Such a great post, LT. Yes, some of these might be obvious, but I think we (human beings) need to be reminded what to do! It's bizarre too that CD's are already becoming extinct. Makes me feel old. :)
