If you have been following me for a while, you are fully aware of my passion to bless, inspire and encourage others in the journey through life. We all need inspiration (even unexpected inspirations) in our lives and its my desire to be an inspiration to you and to everyone that I come in contact with through my music, blogs, words and actions.
Your Actions Are Powerful
I wrote a blog post a while back called "The Power of Your Words". In that blog post I talked about the power that our words have in affecting those around us. Additionally, I also expressed that our words (or self talk) have the power to influence our very own life as well.
However, in this blog post, I want to take this a step further. Not only does our words have power, but our actions have power too. Just think about it. When you choose to take action, it creates a result. It's the natural laws of the Universe in action.
It's a wonderful thing if someone pays you a compliment or gives you an encouraging word when you most need it. But even more so and directly, its so wonderful if someone took you out and spent time with you (action), or sent you a card in the mail (action), or came over to help with something you needed help with (action).
Whether you realize it or not, people are watching what you say and what you do. And what you say or do can inspire others in their own lives, even indirectly and unexpectedly.
This is why I am so passionate about being an inspiration to others.
The Unexpected Result
I want to share with you a short story. Besides being a musician and inspirational & personal growth blogger, I am an affiliate marketer. I do so online and also offline (via mail). When I send out my weekly mailings, I always use bright pastel "greeting card" envelopes with an inspirational sticker on each one. In the envelope, I always include a cover letter which has a picture of me and my special quote from my heart, "Believe & Never Give Up On Your Dreams" on the top of the letter. I also include an inspirational quote and links back to my websites - so whether or not the person decides to purchase a product or service from me, I am providing value, inspiration and encouragement.
My letters are like "mini inspirational tools" being sent to hundreds each week. Quite honestly, I really feel and believe that my passion for inspiring others to believe in their dreams is part of my mission and ministry in life.
So the unexpected occurred from one of those letters that was sent.
I received a hand written letter in the mail! I don't recall the last time I received a hand written letter in the mail. I opened the letter and started to read. As I started reading the letter, my heart simply melted and my eyes became watery. It was a letter from an 83 year old man. He said he had pretty much given up hope with his works (music lyrics, poetry, books, etc.), but when he opened my letter and saw in big letters, "Believe & Never Give Up Your Dreams", a fire ignited inside of him. He actually thought to himself, "Maybe I can still do this".
It brought me back to when I was giving piano lessons in the past. I would have adults always ask me, "Is it too late for me to learn?" My response would always be the same, "As long as you have breath, it is never too late".
Remember the "Where's the Beef?" lady (I am dating myself!! Ha ha!). She didn't start her career until well into her 80's. It's never too late to go after your dream!
Anyhow, so I wrote this gentleman back and provided resources that he can contact and get his work published. Additionally, I provided resources where he can be a freelancer and use his skills and talents to write lyrics for musicians.
This really ignited an even deeper passion to continue the work that is in my heart - to bless, inspire and encourage others!!!!
Be An Inspiration
Remember, you just never know who is listening to you by the words you speak or by the actions you take.
You can and are an inspiration.
